Brownwood man loses control of car, dies after police chase

An 18-year-old Brownwood man was killed late Friday night when he apparently lost control of his car while fleeing a Brownwood DPS patrol car, according to a report from the Department of Public Safety.
Brian Zachary Thomas was driving west on County Road 102 near Brownwood at a ''high rate of speed'' when he lost control and struck a tree, the report states.
Thomas died a half-hour later at a local hospital.
His passenger, 21-year-old Jesse Bush, also of Brownwood, was in good condition Saturday, the report states.
The report did not indicate why a trooper was chasing Thomas' car.
