Car Chase Leaves One Woman Dead

A woman is dead and a man is in critical condition after a robbery leads to a deadly police chase. It all started about 8:45 last night in Timpson when two people robbed a "Dollar General" store.

Timpson city marshal, Jeff Clopp, caught up with the suspects, who headed toward Tenaha on Highway 84. Clopp says the chase reached speeds as high as 120 miles per hour. For safety reasons, he ended the pursuit. Eventually, the suspects ended up in downtown Joaquin where they hit another car head-on.

The people in that car were not injured, but both suspects were lifeflighted to different hospitals. 30-year-old Jennifer Williamson of Splendora died early this morning in Lufkin. The driver, 31-year-old Steven Reynolds of Conroe, is in critical condition in a Tyler hospital. Reynolds will be charged with robbery, evading arrest, and manslaughter.
